“Smile and let the world wonder why…”

“Smile and let the world wonder why…”

Your happiness is yours.  No one, and I mean no one, has the right to take that away from you. I love how this quote is so playful and allows that space to be mysterious. In life we’re all so connected to each other that we forget that our emotions are our own and that we get to decide how we feel. We allow someone else’s “vibe” to take over ours and that is not okay. The way you feel is what truly matters because in the end you have to live your life feeling that way.

If you choose to be happy no one has to know why. You don’t need an extravagant reason to be happy. All you need is to choose the most constant thing in your life, which could be anything from being in love to knowing that the sun will set tonight and rise again in the morning and that secret to your happiness is your secret. You don’t have to share it with anyone else and that’s the best part. However; you have to know that your happiness is genuine. If you’re not truly happy you need to change that. Whether its letting go of the negative things in your life or embracing it and accepting that its apart of you but it doesn’t define you. What does define you is what you choose.

The tricky part to all of this is in choosing to be happy you need to let go of thinking of how everyone else will feel about it. Take this situation; you were once in a committed relationship and the two of you end up breaking up for whatever reason. Are you going to let your heartbreak take over and let it become the focal point in your life? Or are you going to address the issue and accept that things didn’t work out the way you planned it to and move forward because you can’t plan your life. Life plans itself. If something isn’t meant for you, no matter how much you force it to be, it will not work out. So, look at things from a different view point or focus on something that is working out and make it all the more better. As long as you know it’s what you want. There’s nothing else you need.

Your Emotions don’t define you.
