Little Ways to Make Big Things Happen

Little ways to make big things happen…

Have you ever felt the sudden urge to just want to make the world a better place but you just simply don’t know where to begin?

The world is a cruel place but, ever so often you find a little burst of light in the darkness. Most people wait for that little burst but what they fail to realise is that they can create an even brighter spark by simply doing little things. Many of us feel that we  want to give back to the world, we feel as though they need to give some more  meaning to the good things that happen to us and then we realise how broke we are and suddenly it feels as though you’ll never be able to make a difference in the world. What we fail to realise is giving charity isn’t just about paying a large sum of money to an orphanage or underprivileged shelter home. The best charity is when you give your time, when you make the effort to go out and make someone smile whether that person is poor or not.

On the 25th of June, Islamic Relief South Africa hosted a small cake sale at a nearby shopping centre. I, being a volunteer was one of those lucky people to experience making someone’s face light up as they received their cupcakes. It was an indescribable feeling knowing that I was helping make a difference to people’s lives. Not only would that person go home and enjoy their cupcake, but I would be helping some innocent child get the resources they need to survive. A feeling like that simply can’t be put into words. It’s a feeling that needs to be felt and I speak from experience when I say that once you’ve felt it you yearn for that feeling everyday of your life. my message today is that giving back to the world isn’t just financially funding someone or something, yes that does help a lot but, what really helps is giving your time and effort. We all want to leave a mark on the world. One of the best gifts you can give someone is your time and effort.

The following images are from the cake sale, be sure to check out the next one at KC on the 2nd July 🙂
